So I've not been posting to deviantART as often as I should, but that's nothing new! I update fairly regularly on my craftblog, craftblog.pinktoque.com with all that I'm doing crafty in my spare time.

I recently have decided to attempt selling one of my creations (and possibly more) in some local boutique-y type shops around town.  I'm trying to focus mostly on the character that I dreamed up and brought to life in yarn a year ago ... Huug the Hug Monster. I just dreamed him up one day on the way to work and back then I made a knit version and played with the proportions until I got things just right.  Recently I made up the crochet version and I've had suggestions from friends that I should try to market him and my other little things... that they would sell well locally and that shops would love to pick up some of my things simply due to the fact it's local art. We'll see.  I've set up a portfolio of some things as examples at www.thepinktoque.com for now.

I got a full-time, permanent kindergarten teaching contract over the winter break, so no more substitute teaching for me!  As most of you know, I taught 4th grade for four years in the states before I moved to Canada in June 2006.  It took a year or so to get through immigration (no work), and then some time to get my teaching license transferred. I ended up subbing for a year, and then this kindergarten job came along. (My friend Michelle actually found it listed and sent me the link to apply.)  I started after winter break on January 5, and I really love the job.  It's a small private school in downtown and I work with some amazing kids.  As you can imagine, that means my time has been limited quite a bit and I've not had as much time for art lately, but I'm still working on things little by little :)

Thanks for all of the favourites and comments I've received from viewers in my absence. I appreciate each and every one, and am honoured.  And as always, I'll try my best to keep things updated here as well :)

But I'm still kicking!

This summer has been a busy one.  For one thing, I got married back on June 20.  Special thank you to :iconeliea: for mentioning it and wishing us luck in her journal (and me being the bad friend for not noticing until today in my extended absence from DA.)

Sooooo... what else?  Well, as a teacher I have summers off but I can't just sit around and do nothing so I have been working a temporary summer job as a receptionist at an engineering company here in town.  It's alright. A little boring, but that just means I learn new crafts when I have no work to do.  For example, I taught myself how to crochet last week, lol.  I will try to get around to posting the few finished crochet projects I've tried this week.  I remember to post them to Ravelry but always forget to post here.

Crochet isn't the only other craft I've been doing in my spare time.  Back at Christmas I had ordered some digital scrapbook software called My Memories Suite by Polaroid.  I love to scrapbook but hate how much "stuff" you have to buy and finding new and creative ways to store all that "stuff" in an organized manner, so I decided to give digital scrapbooking a try.  I love it!  I made a gift album to give to Lucas as a wedding gift and then I did a digital scrapbook of our wedding.  I've since done a scrapbook for our dogs and have an ongoing one that just covers everything going on in our lives in general.  If you want to see what I've been up to and see ALL of the digital scrapbook pages I've made, check out my online digital scrapbook here: scrapbooks.lookatusgo.net :)  I'm also pinktoque on scrapbook.com if any of you are there.

My new crafts aren't limited to just DOING digital scrapbooking... I've also gotten deep into MAKING my own digital scrapbook elements, which means lots of Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro learning.  I give away digital scrapbook freebies all the time on my blog here: pinktoque.blogspot.com !

So I've been a busy (and crafty) girl this summer. On top getting married, a normal 8 - 4 job and new crafts, I've also been beta testing WoW: WotLK. (If you're a gamer, you'll understand, lol.) My apologies for not stopping by DA enough or remembering to update here!  I plan to look and see what kind of digi scrapping community (if any) resides here on DA and I'll try to release my freebies and my crochet stuff here from now on.  Thanks for all of your kind comments, love, favourites while I was away.  <3

Only 33 Days...

3 min read
...until our Las Vegas wedding!

So as you can imagine, I have been MIA for the most part due to finalizing wedding plans (which I think are just about done at this point) and getting ready for the trip and the big day.  I had my first dress fitting (www.lookatusgo.net/wedding/dre…) and we've ordered favours, personalized Mr. and Mrs. shirts to wear as we party it up afterwards, and I've even found time to craft up a wedding gift.  More on that after we get back of course... ;)

I have done a little crafting lately, though -- my most recent deviation is Otters in Love (pinktoque.deviantart.com/art/O…) that I made for Lucas this weekend.  It's been awhile since I've made a plushie!  I also made a purse last weekend to sport around Vegas -- something bright and cheery (pinktoque.deviantart.com/art/B…).  I'm in the middle of working on a birthday present for one of my best friends whose birthday is coming up in early June, and the craft I've most recently picked up that I have been spending the most of my free time on has been digital scrapbooking!

Since I mentioned my newest hobby, be sure to go and read the review I've written up (pinktoque.blogspot.com/2008/05…) about some new digital scrapbooking software that I picked up by Polaroid called My Memories Suite.  It's AMAZING!!!  I've made two albums with it already -- one of Christmas with my family where I was using the software's built-in layouts to get a feel for how the program works, and then recently an album of our two dogs, Oliver & Winston.  The newest album of the dogs is 18 pages that I made from scratch using the software now that I know how to use it.  It's obvious I've learned a lot between the two albums, and I cannot wait to make a digital album of our wedding now.  The more I use this software, the more I love it and see how much potential and creative freedom it has.  Anyway, I've already obsessed about My Memories Suite once on my craft blog, so go check out the full review there: (pinktoque.blogspot.com/2008/05…).

You can see all of the digital scrapbook pages I've created with My Memories Suite so far in one of two places:

My scrapbook.com gallery: www.scrapbook.com/places/Pinkt…
My Flickr digital scrapbook set: www.flickr.com/photos/pinktoqu…

And happy anniversary to me... today is my one year anniversary of being an official Canadian Permanent Resident!  That's a lot of maple syrup and igloos, eh?  As of June 6, I will have lived in Canada for 2 years :D

So that's what's new and what's upcoming -- I most likely won't be around too much between now and the wedding, but look for an update when I get back -- I have several summer crafts in mind that I hope to tackle once the craziness of planning a destination wedding is over ;)  VIVA LAS VEGAS! <3

Hi!

I know, it's been a long time since I've added a new deviation.  There's been a lot going on in my life lately that has kept me from crafting, but I've not completely disappeared! :)

For Christmas, Lucas and I went back to Indiana to visit my family for a few days.  Shortly after we got back, we moved into a brand new house.  Check out pics here: (www.lookatusgo.net/house). The big move and settling in at the new place has taken awhile!  A lot of my crafting supplies are still in boxes in the basement, patiently waiting for me to get around to setting up my craft room.  I hope to dig into my supplies and get back to crafty work soon :)

And as if moving into a new house and planning for our upcoming Vegas wedding in June wasn't enough to keep us busy, we also decided to get a new puppy last week!  He is an 8 week old miniature schnauzer that we named Winston.  Our 5 year old border collie, Oliver, blogged about his thoughts on getting a new little brother here: (www.lookatusgo.net/?p=76), and you can see all of the photos we've taken of Winston here: (www.lookatusgo.net/puppy).  Housebreaking a puppy and managing all of the other things around the house at the same time is a little challenging, so Winston has kept us busy, hehe :)  I've been making videos of the boys playing, and you can see them here: (youtube.com/user/pinktoque).

So ya, that's what's been happening lately that has kept me away from crafting.  Not to mention we still need to finish with our wedding plans and the trip to Las Vegas in June.  My apologies to those who have sent me notes or messages that I haven't responded to yet. I appreciate all of your great comments and feedback on my art and hope to be able to catch up on what I've missed in my absence soon :)
