Montgomery Moose

Description

I moved to Canada in June of 2006 and due to the slow immigration process, will not be able to return to the U.S. in time to spend Christmas with my family. I decided to make them something "Canadian-ish" that they could hug in place of me, though I realize it's not a real replacement. Thus, the idea of making a plush moose was born. I searched the Internet far and wide for a free plush moose pattern with no luck, so I started creating my own plush moose pattern instead. I was having a few difficulties with it, and then a friend introduced me to craftster.org. I shared my pattern design there and among all of the great members, found the inspiration and guidance I needed to modify my pattern and the pattern ideas of others into one that suited my style to create exactly what I was looking for - and I named him Montgomery. I need to make 3 more Montgomery Moose now. I was thinking of adding a cute maple leaf or Canadian print scarf to these for an added touch. Maybe a small felt heart in one of his hands/paws or something. He is made completely out of crafting felt with buttons for eyes. I don't own my own little portable sewing machine (or a large clunky expensive one, for that matter) so he was sewn completely by hand. For a first attempt, I'm really proud of him!
